Energy Star Built Homes

Energy Star homes are minimally 15% more efficient than the homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC).  They typically include energy-saving products and features that can make them up to 20-30% more efficient than homes built to the 2004 IRC.  An audit by an independt Home Energy Rater is required to have project officially certified as an "Energy Star Home".

Energy Star certified homes often include many 'tried-and-true' energy-saving features that all contribute to improve the overall home quality, homeowner comfort, lower operating costs, less energy use, and reduced air pollution.  HomeWrights strives to incorporate these features in any home we assist with regardless of whether or not our homeowner are looking to achieve an official rating.  These are just plane great building practices.  We always recommend using:

2. High-performance windows
3. Tight construction and properly sealed ducts
4. Highly efficienct heating and cooling equipment
5. Efficient products - lighting fixtures, highly efficiency boilers, water heaters, refrigerators etc.
